The Hive
A community center for the youth
About The Hive
The Hive, curated as a platform for youth engagement, is an initiative of the People’s Alliance for Change and Empowerment (PACE). It is a community center set up in Jorhat to provide young people with a space to read, engage in creative arts, network and collaborate with experts and professionals from different fields and explore new career avenues through upskilling opportunities, training and internships. The aim of the center is to facilitate learning in a creative space outside of their educational institutions while providing them with the exposure that is often lacking in smaller or remote towns.
The center has three distinct yet interconnected segments-
1. Legamus: Curated as a book and film club with an in-house library, it aims to encourage young people to read, analyze and engage in a healthy discourse around books and movies while developing critical thinking and writing skills. Legamus organizes regular discussions and interactions with prominent writers, authors, filmmakers etc.
2. Spotlight sessions: Spotlight sessions provide young people a space to express themselves creatively as well as to explore, pursue and share their hobbies and passions with a larger community. Interactions with professionals from the music industry, content creation, drama, etc. are often organized.
3. Launchpad workshops: This segment is designed to provide young people with hands-on learning experience in new and emerging fields, enabling them to explore avenues outside the conventional career options. This includes skilling, training and networking opportunities through workshops, mentoring and facilitating internships.
